Types of produced information panels

Electronic station display panels (hereafter ELP) and systems are meant for informing (using images or voice) the passengers at the stops about arrivals, delays, departures of public transportation vehicles and about extraordinary transportation situations or other circumstances in the surrounding region.

	Graphic LED information electronic panels Single color graphic LED information panels are designed to display both text information and graphic information. The demanded information or graphics can be displayed in variously defined “windows”. These panels always contain LED diodes of the same color (red, yellow, white and others on demand).
	Text information electronic LED panels One of their most important features is that there are spaces between the lines of these displays and therefore they cannot be used as a graphic surface. they can be used at platforms, stops and as basic orientation panels.
	Combined color LED stop panels (text) These panels are designed for situations when it is necessary to use colors to distinguish individual types of transportation, e.g. municipal public transportation labeled red, regional public transportation  yellow and trains  white.

	Electronic information LCD panels They allow the user to perfectly graphically process both texts and images. The results of this graphic processing can be degraded because of the purpose of displaying. The disadvantages of these systems are high power consumption, low readability in direct sunlight and their lower lifespan (usually 50 thousand hours).
	Station information stands Station information stands are meant to be placed on stops and stations. They contain LCD displays with high illumination and a touchscreen. They can also contain a microphone and a speaker for voice communication with the dispatching.
	Digital stop sign Embedded LED panels/LCD displays for stop signs are characterized by low number of lines 2-4 and high LED density – distance between diodes – 4-5 mm. They usually display the line, the target stop and the time of departure..
	Information Systems for waiting rooms They are designed to covered areas with limited exposure to the sun and weathering. For greater flexibility imaging are useful LCD display.
	Electronic timetables (e-paper and e-ink) These panels are designed for stop signs or billboard to display the timetable of vehicles in this stop signs . The benefit is that showing timetable after a disconnection of the power supply and can also be powered by solar panels.
	Vehicle LED panels These pnanels are primarily meant for public transportation vehicles for displaying information about the route (the terminus, the next stop, the number of the line, etc.) but they can also be used outside vehicles.

The history of the development of information panels and systems in our company

We have been working on the development and production of electronic information panels (hereafter ELP) for intelligent stops since 2006. Since then, the Herman company has produced and supplied more than 250 intelligent stops, electronic information panels for stops and electronic station signs.

Since we began the development of these systems, we have developed a number of original solutions of inner units including control dispatching systems. In cooperation with other companies we are able to secure realizations of complex systems for informing the passengers at intelligent stops, big transportation loops or transportation terminals in the scope of integrated transportation systems.

We realized projects such as building small electronic signs and big LED and LCD panels for DPmČB, building 12 intelligent stops in Plzeň, 51 new LED panels and the reconstruction of 70 original electronic information panels for big transportation loops of IDS JMK, the information system of the transportation terminal in Cheb and other projects. We supplied and realized the information system of the transportation loop in Svinovské Mosty, Ostrava. This system is characterized by using LCD displays with high illumination. It contains 6 doubled LCD displays with time displays for tram and bus stops, two LCD departure information panels and 8 big LCDs. The terminal also contains beacons for people with impaired vision and our BSV system for monitoring staying of public transportation vehicles at the stops.

Up to date information is acquired from the dispatching department or other sources (e.g. induction loops, ISM band communication using the FHSS method)
